Dental Crowns & Bridges in Dubai
Crowns vs. Bridges: What's the Difference?
Dental Crowns
A crown is a custom-made cap that covers an entire damaged tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. Crowns are used to:
- Protect a tooth that’s cracked, heavily worn, or weakened by a large filling
- Cover and protect a tooth after root canal treatment
- Restore a tooth that’s severely discolored or misshapen
- Top a dental implant, completing the restoration
Dental Bridges
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth (or teeth) to the natural
teeth on either side of the gap, which are prepared and crowned to support it. Bridges are used to:
- Replace one or more missing teeth without surgery
- Restore your bite and prevent neighboring teeth from shifting into the gap
- Provide a fixed (non-removable) alternative to a partial denture
The key trade-off: a bridge requires preparing (filing down) the healthy teeth on either side of
the gap to support it — which is why we always discuss dental implants as an alternative during
your consultation, since implants don’t require touching neighboring healthy teeth.
Why Choose Floss & Gloss for Crowns & Bridges?
- We tell you if there’s a better option. If a dental implant would serve you better long-term than
a bridge — or a filling would suffice instead of a full crown — we’ll say so, even if it’s not what
you came in asking for. - Material choice matched to the tooth. From all-ceramic to porcelain-fused-to-metal, we
recommend crown/bridge materials based on the tooth’s location, your bite forces, and aesthetic
priorities — back teeth and front teeth don’t always call for the same material. - Careful shade and shape matching. For visible teeth, we match your crown or bridge to the
surrounding teeth so it blends in rather than standing out. - Built to last, checked to confirm it. We review fit and bite alignment carefully at fitting, and
follow up to make sure your restoration is settling correctly.

Types of Crowns & Bridges We Offer
All-Ceramic / Porcelain Crowns
The most natural-looking option, ideal for front teeth where appearance matters most.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal Crowns
Combines the strength of a metal substructure with a porcelain outer layer — often used for
back teeth that handle heavier bite forces.
Traditional (Fixed) Bridges
The most common bridge type, anchored to crowned teeth on either side of the gap.
Implant-Supported Bridges
For multiple missing teeth, a bridge anchored to dental implants rather than natural teeth —
avoiding the need to prepare healthy teeth for support. Covered in more detail on our Dental
Implants page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What to Expect: The Crown & Bridge Process
- Free Consultation & Assessment — We examine the affected tooth or gap, take X-
rays if needed, and discuss the best restorative option for your case. - Tooth Preparation — The damaged tooth (or the teeth on either side of a gap, for
bridges) is reshaped to accommodate the restoration. - .Impressions & Temporary Restoration — Impressions are sent to a dental lab while
you wear a temporary crown or bridge. - Fitting — Your custom, permanent restoration is checked for fit, bite, and shade match,
then cemented in place. - Follow-Up — We check that your bite feels natural and the restoration is settling well.
Am I a Candidate?
Crowns and bridges are suitable for most patients with:
- A damaged, weakened, or root-canal-treated tooth needing protection (crowns)
- One or more missing teeth with healthy, stable neighboring teeth to act as support
(bridges) - Sufficient remaining healthy gum and bone around the supporting teeth
If you’re missing several teeth in a row, or your adjacent teeth aren’t strong enough to support a
bridge, we may recommend an implant-based solution instead — we’ll walk you through the
comparison honestly at your consultation.
